Billing
GBA is committed to integrity in its business dealings, including accurately coding and billing all payers
for services rendered in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations. Our success or failure
is determined by our actions and we are committed to providing the best service possible while maintaining our integrity through ethical business practices. Assuring accurate billing and coding becomes increasingly important as reimbursement methodologies become more complex. This is particularly necessary
concerning Medicare and Medi-Cal. Employees involved in billing government and third party payers are expected to understand and comply with laws and regulations applicable to their responsibilities. To
assure compliance, GBA has created the Compliance Committee to provide guidance with respect to key billing and reimbursement issues. This committee serves as a resource to identifying and evaluating
potential coding, billing and other financial reporting issues. This committee provides direction and guidance to assure consistent compliance with regulations and guidelines subject to the authority of GBA’s Executive Management Team.

GBA’s Coding Compliance Officer
Our Compliance Officer is qualified in maintaining the most current and accurate procedures that ensure compliance to all
applicable laws, rules and regulations governing Healthcare, Coding and Third Party Billing. OIG’s Third Party Medical Billing Company Guidelines requirements are strictly followed.
Staffing, Training and Education
All potential coders are required to complete a pre-hire test to determine if they have the aptitude to become a part of GBA’s
highly qualified coding staff. All coding staff receives an intensive one-month training course prior to being assigned a client.
Finally, all GBA’s coders undergo monthly audits to ensure continued compliance to our coding standards. Monthly coding
meetings are held to update staff of changes in coding procedures and provide an opportunity for questions and answers.
GBA strictly follows AMA guidelines and uses only approved manuals such as: ICD9CM, CPT and HCPCS manuals.
We incorporate the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training course for coders. During this training
privacy concepts are explained to help coders recognize and be aware of patient privacy issues.
